Continuous inspection is required during the placement of reinforcing steel, during concrete application and the assembly, shooting, testing, and dis-assembly of test panels.

INTERNATIONAL CODE COUNCIL
Deputy Inspectors / Special Inspectors are thoroughly trained and experienced in each of the categories of construction they are inspecting, and can be certified in multiple categories.
LA DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND SAFETY
They are in addition to the required city inspections based on their job's local Department of Building and Safety requirements
Types of construction categories that require a Special Inspector include the following: Reinforced Concrete. Pre-Stressed Concrete. Epoxy - Drilled in Anchor Bolts and Rebar Dowels. Nailing. (When Shear Wall Nailing Is 4" O.C. Or Closer). Masonry. Wedge Anchor Bolts. (Torque Testing). Shotcrete / Gunite.
AMERICAN CONCRETE INSTITUTE
Each Department of Building and Safety approves it's Deputy Inspectors or Special Inspectors through a testing and interview process. It is important to acquire the services of a Deputy Inspection company or Special Inspector with the correct certifications and city or county registrations, otherwise the related work may not be approved by your local department of building and safety.
